Subject:Ventilator Setup?

Fingerz,

I am using the Ventilator with my C1 and while I own a Speakeasy Preamp, I have found the the Ventilator sounds so good straight out of the box that I haven't even bothered to try the Speakeasy Preamp in the chain.

My C1 has a high level output, and I move the volume up to where the overload light comes on the Ventilator, and obviously back it off a bit, and I set my mixer and powered QSC K10's to the appropriate volume for the venue and that's it.  Make sure that all internal sims are turned off on your clone otherwise you'll get strange and unnatural phasing, especially on tremelo. The only eq change I make is to turn the highs down a bit to tone down the key click.

Some others on the list may use a preamp to increase the gain, but from my experience it's unecessary from a sonic perspective.. the Ventilator provides you with a nice warm sound with the most  beautiful and realistic animation that I've ever heard in a sim.
Similarly, It's also got very realistic overdrive, and mic distance setting is about as real as you can get.. Actually, I challenge anyone to tell the difference between a real miced leslie and the Ventilator, in a blind listening test.

Regards,
Craig MacDonald

Guys/Gals...
I'm looking for input on how you guys are setting up your clones with the Ventilator. I'm using an Electro 2 and usually turn the EQ on half way for both treble/bass, with output level all the way up, and the main volume between 2:00 and full on. I also tried running onboard sim turned on but rotation turned off...YUCK YMMV...I was also wondering if anyone is using any kind of preamp? Speakeasy, etc...I love the way it sounds just wondering if anyone has another secret potion out there? I thought it sounded good with a ART dual preamp on the output of the Vent but I don't really think it needed it...again YMMV...I thought this might be good discussion no matter what clone you're using...
