Being perfectly in tune would sound like being in a vacuum. The Hammond
BC's chorus generator was invented to produce that room sound. Too bad
Hammond had not the foresight to keep making them.

Same kind of thing that makes a live string section, particularly, and
a live orchestra in general so wonderful.
None of the instruments are exactly on pitch.
They are so close most human ears couldn't tell, and even if they were
the individual players slightly different approach  would still create
a chorusing effect.
The room is important.
