Well, C above middle C is THE most likely key to go out on a heavily
used rental board, and the real hammer-action is the most likely to
break - so I think there's no quality connection, just overuse and
abuse. Rental companies can be so awful about letting this stuff go,
and the organizers (pun not intended) just let 'em get away with it.
Maybe there were no Roland repair facilities available there.
I played out with the same A33 semi-weighted controller for five
years and never had a problem.. still have it at home, but would take
it playing cross-country without a qualm.
Would I gig with a Studiologic? Never. Nothing personal, Simon, you
may have had one of the good ones that came down the assembly line
now and then. They really had/have a bad rep, even worse back then.
