Subject:Re: XK-3 software update

Slight difference between a car and a console Hammond:

A car can be improved on forever, a vintage console Hammond is perfect as is. So the goal for a Hammond clone is 100% clear (with just a slifght margin). That means: anything which a hardware Hammond clone does not deliver in sound (whereas software equivalents do) cannot be explained with "that's life" or "there are always better version comiong out". I don't buy that. Not even the 9 contact New B3 stuff that is used to excplain the extremeluy high price. I can live with a well chosen key and release click, perhaps with some random changes. As it is: the C-3 setting turns the XK-3 way too aggressive and emphasiozes the key click which is not that great sounding to begin with. How come that software developers have figured out how to do that convincingly almost a decade ago???

I do recall the article regarding a "future software upgrade" for the
XK3 but later recanted, saying that the update was not to be software
but suggested a hardware update-- I guess that is the upcoming XK3c.
Its just like buying a new car, next year its improved and better than
the one you have... that's life for ya.
