Subject:MS Pro-145 Success
Just played my first gig with MS Pro-145 hooked up to my VK7. I am
thrilled with it! It's light-years better than the VK7 onboard
Leslie sim, and a huge improvement on my MS Pro-3Tm. Plus at just
65 lbs with well placed handles and removable casters, it's easy to
move.
The Pro-3Tm is OK but ... the horn doesn't have much power so even
for a small gig it needs either the onboard mike or an external
mike. Then I'd find myself spending time fiddling with the balance
between the horn and the lower rotor sim and tweaking the EQ on the
amp or the PA to get it sounding right. Do-able but generally a lot
of trouble for live gigs where you want to spend 10 mins not 30 mins
setting up. etter for a studio situation -- but then you might as
well spend a few more bucks and get a really nice tube Leslie.
The MS-145 is easy. Roll it into place, attach power cord and
instrument cable, turn it on, and you're there. It was plenty loud
for a bar gig -- easily enough volume to compete with 2 guitars,
bass, sax, and hard hitting drummer, plus headroom to spare. Nice
warm sound with the tube gain set at 8-9. Got a lot of compliments
on it, too, from experienced players.
