Subject:Re: VK-8M settings are for budget concious ?

I don't know what the Soundside adjustments are. Aside from the rotary
bypass, which I just posted how to do, the other settings of the VK-8M
can be accessed through it's panel, even if it does require awkward
combinations of button presses that you have to constantly look up in
the manual. It's actually really curious that the rotary bypass is the
only setting that I can find that Roland doesn't allow you to change
through the front panel and requires a system exclusive message. Very
strange.

If you're going to be using a real Leslie, I'd say save a basic preset
with the rotary sim bypassed and make copies of it in different
registrations and fine tune those with different amounts of click and
EQ or whatever to try out with your real Leslie. I'm guessing the main
benefit of the Soundside upgrade is to get their tweaks for the mic
placement, speed, EQ, etc. on the rotary sim settings to make it sound
like what they feel is a more authentic Leslie effect. But if you're
using a real Leslie, you'll probably want to fine tune the amount of
click and EQ to your own liking and your particular Leslie anyway. So
I doubt the Soundside upgrade would be of much benefit in that case.
