Subject:Electro Programability (was Newbie Questions)
thanks everyone for your thoughts so far - i think i'm leaning towards either the electro or
the vk-8, based on my research and budget. i think i would get the xk-3 if i could afford
it - and may still if i find that it is that much better and worth waiting a few more months
to pile up some more "disposable" income. :) but since my long term goal is probly 2
manuals and a rotating speaker - and maybe pedals - this first step is just that, only the
first step.
so - since i use a lot of rhodes and wurly sounds already and would love to only have to
haul my 88 key controller and one other board, the electro starts off with an advantage for
me. however, i've heard the vk-8 keyboard is great - and better than the electro - and is
more programable - more organ parameters to tweak to one's liking. if that's true, then it
seems i'm looking at trading convenience for authenticity, no? my main draw to a clone in
the first place is the whole idiomatic playing experience - i.e. the waterfall keys, etc. never
having played a real b3, i'm not a purist - however i really appreciate the details that turn
what is essentially a computer into a musical instrument capable of subtle performance
gestures.
ok, so does the electro measure up as a performance instrument (compared to the vk-8
and xk-3)? do you electro users ever find yourself wishing you could adjust key click or
leslie speed or some other parameter that you can't? is the vk-8 very programable, or
does it just have different features, like cosm etc.?
thanks again,
