Hey Damon, maybe you missed my earlier post. I think Dream Theatre has the most chops-per-gallon of any group out there. Pull Me Under is a great example: I REALLY prefer the band when Kevin Moore was the keyboardist; whether he was the yang to their ying, I don't know, but it seems like once he left, they became so shredder-oriented that they weren't as listenable. While Derek Sherinian took a lashing here, arguably he played on their best studio record, Falling Into Infinity. I had forgotten about that album, and I put it on a few weeks ago, and I was shocked at how much of that music I remember and liked. I did buy the Japan DVD that came out a few months ago, and I like watching them play that stuff more than listening to them do it.

favorite bands. I think a lot more thought goes into their songs than you
think. Take a listen to a song like Pull me Under, which is the song that
put them on the map. Honestly, some of their classics are songs like Take
the Time, Learning to Live, Metropolis part 1, Under a Glass Moon, hell, the
entire Images and Words CD for that matter. They are not just wankers,
although their later material is more out there than earlier material. But,
I am not going to convince anybody here. But I am not going to let one of my
favorite bands get trashed without some form of defense.
