Subject:RE: Electro Clavinet settings?
Once the settings are made and saved, it is a little bit hard to figure out
exactly what they are without a little experimentation, since there is no
readout of the knob settings.
Real quick, one of my favorite clav sounds gets that Preston "Outta Space"
tone. Take the raw clav sound with no filtering at all. Apply the Wah 2
effect with rate about 3-4 and amount around 7. Use overdrive to taste and
it is an automatic funk machine. Applying your own choice of filter
settings for the clav adds some character and bite.
I also have a trick that I do for all the sounds. I find an FX spot on
each of the FX rows that I like, even if I have it turned off. Then all I
have to do is push the button to turn the FX on and off and it is already
where I want it to be. For example, I have a couple of presets with basic
Rhodes and Wurly sounds with minimal or no FX. At the press of a button is
my choice of a good chorus 2 or tremolo already dialed in as I like it. For
clav, I have the phaser 2 on call in the same phashion. I enjoy throwing in
the phaser for Hammond sounds from time to time - and try the ring mod on
Hammond for some interesting vocaloid kind of sounds!
The Electro is a bottomless pit!
Regards,
Eric

Subject: [CWSG] Electro Clavinet settings?
I never owned or played a real clavinet, used ep's, synths, even
organ with wah pedal - all of which worked out pretty well with no
complaints. But.. since the onboard clavinet is rated tops by almost
all players familiar with them, I'd like some input on best tone
settings to make a few different presets. Per the factory presets,
3A and 3B, no fx and wah: The A preset is OK, but doesn't seem ballsy
enough. The B preset's wah seems kind of odd, the way it honks in and
out with only minor changes in my playing touch and how the Wah
effect doesn't seem to be applied more or less equally to the
keyboard note range. I'm familiar with a wah effect affecting (noun &
verb?) varying tone ranges as the pedal was pressed and depressed,
but I don't remember this quite the same as the Electro's effect -
maybe it's me = been a while ;^) In any case, suggestions from
experienced clavinet players on best settings to make a few good
presets, with and without effects, is gratefully appreciated! TIA ~
