Subject:Re: CX-3 Stuck notes??
CX-3's do not tolerate power drops as well as some other digital keyboards.
I play in a lot of bars where having a live band is an afterthought and
consequently, so is adequate power. Even worse yet are street festivals. I
was having a lot of trouble with my CX-3 just locking up, sometimes two or
three times a night, and the only fix was a hard reset. After much
frustration I installed a Furman AR-1215 Voltage Regulator in my rack (which
is not the same as a power conditioner), and I've never had that problem
since. A voltage regulator brings a low voltage up to a safe operating
level, and if the power at the wall falls too low it will just shut down
instead of allowing your equipment to be damaged. Since I got it, both our
guitar player and bass player plug their amps into the Furman and everybody
has plenty of clean power. The AR-1215 is a little pricey, but you can
often find the previous model AR-117 on eBay for a lot less (there's one on
there now). Well worth the money.
