Subject:Which Speakeasy pre-amp?

Hi,

I wonder if someone out there can help me? I am looking to getting
back into playing my Hammond again (after an enforced period of
abstention). I have an XB-2 and am in the process of buying a Leslie
M2102 to give my sound more authenticity.

I have read a lot on these pages about Speakeasy pre-amps and with
their excellent reviews here am thinking of buying one on spec. But
which one?

The sound I am after *is* the Jon Lord sound and therefore I thought
the Howler would be the one for me. After more research, however, I
am not quite sure that it is. I am not necessarily just into that
Marshall Amp "Highway Star" sound but more the mellower sounds
of "Might Just Take Your Life". Less "Speed King" more "No No No" if
you know what I mean?

I have read on CloneWheel how the Classic provides a punchier sound
and how the Howler works best with Solid State amps. So is it
actually the Classic that I want?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Nick. :)

PS: I was going to put the speakeasy through the XB-2's effects loop
and connect the leslie directly to the XB-2. That sounds sensible
doesn't it?
