Subject:RE: Radium 61 anyone?
I happen to use a Radium 49 as a portable composition tool in conjunction
with Sonar 2.2XL. I haven't been very happy with it.
The drivers are snarky. I continue to get occasional "found new USB
hardware" messages on startup from time to time, and must repeat the
installation process with S/W disc.
After much tweaking I still haven't been able to get the latency below about
23 milliseconds, which would be useless for performance but almost just
barely tolerable for my application - scoring.
The case is the cheapest looking thing I've seen in years. My kids have
Barney keyboards that look better than this thing.
The keybed feels like a low end synth, but in all fairness, consider the
price point.
I returned the first one I was given because there were smudges all over the
face from a bad silk screen job. Strictly cosmetic, but I have a zero
tolerance policy for any flaws in brand new gear sold as first quality. I
unpacked the replacement (also factory sealed) to discover virtually the
same pattern of paint smears.
I used to have a good feeling about M-Audio stuff, but there are just too
many issues with this thing. I live with it because it was provided to me as
part of a contract project, but I would not recommend it to a friend.
