Hello everybody, I'm new to this group. I haven't bought a clone yet, but
i've been looking at different models for what seems like forever.
Anyway, i have a question in the form of a story.
I was lucky enough to corner john medeski after a show once, and i asked him
about clones, specifically the korg cx3. He voiced disapproval for the new
korg cx3, commenting that they have no "soul" and are not "their own
instrument" but merely "mimicking" the hammond. Somehow, the old korg cx3 or
bx3 is acceptable, b/c, it's analog, and that somehow makes it, "it's own
instrument."
At first, i thought this was the height of poser-ism, but, he got me
thinkin'.
Now, i've never played the older model. Those new ones seem pretty spiffy to
me, but, what say you? I know that the older bx and cx3 have lousy leslie
simulation, and that, if i got one, i'd then have to invest in motion sound
or something. But, i am intrigued. I actually saw an old bx3 on ebay for
sale with the whole motion sound kit'n'ka'boodle, but at much too high a
price. Well, let me know, and thanks in advance. -Brian
