Subject:Bypassing the CX3 double-bounce

Bruce,

Thanks for the excellent instructions and discussion on this topic.

I have one more query about this that was triggered (actually double-
triggered) in my mind this morning as I read the CX3 manual in
traffic on the way to work.

In the MIDI section of the manual on pg. 28, Korg describes that the
CX3 usually sends fixed MIDI velocity unless the parameters are
changed. The fixed velocity MIDI out will trigger the note upon a
light touch to the keybed (i.e. "hot" action with "featured" slapback
delay). Once changed to send real velocity, the note does not
trigger until the key bottoms out. So if the CX3 is used as a
velocity-sensitive controller, does it mean that the "hot" action is
disabled? This makes me believe that it may be possible to get rid
of the double bounce by simply telling the CX3 to send velocity.

I'm thinking out loud here...

I have not tried this but was thinking that if you set it up to
transimit velocity over MIDI and connect a dummy MIDI plug to the
MIDI out jack, would this get rid of the double bounce? I'm trying
to get around the local off and MIDI to itself because I would like
to have my RD600 play the lower manual and I don't have a merge box.
Seems like a real pain to invest in a merge box for this workaround.

Bruce, have you experimented with this?

Thanks,
Eric
