Subject:RE: speakeasy: every clone should have one
Just ordered my second Speakeasy... This time the stereo rack mount so I
can run my CX3 in Stereo. I was able to sell my first one to fellow list
member Joe Mercado after hearing it at my gig Friday night at Martini
Blues.
I want to thank all the others who saw me perform on Friday night. It is
wonderful to meet the people on this list.
On another subject, my Hammond tech, Bill Axman, was by the house
Saturday repairing a couple of Leslies. His new chop is FANTASTIC! Plus,
it is quite reasonable... I suggest you check it out at
http://www.alltekorgankeyboard.com/ . He charges $1500 plus you supply
the guts. Pretty cool!
He also told me that he serviced Jon Lord's chop last week for the new
keyboard player for Deep Purple. What a thrill that must have been. It
was originally the Fleetwood Mac organ until Deep Purple purchased it in
1972. Jon Lord has played it since then.
Bill said that the key combs were pretty much shot and that it had some
interesting mods inside. I am sworn to secrecy on what they are... Leave
it to say that I now know how he got "the sound" (besides the Marshalls,
of course).....
