Subject:Re: mackie srm450 vs roland kc500

I agree with previous posters ... I made this same
transition for the same reasons: physical size,
sound quality, sound quantity. I am much happier
with the srm450.

I use my srm450 solely as a monitor; keyboards always
go through house PA in our band. My only problem has
been the inconvenient location of the srm450 volume
knob -- it makes quick stage-monitor-level tweaks hard
to execute in the middle of a song. The KC500 was
much more performer-friendly in that regard.

I improved my submixer set up now so that's not
an issue for me (I have a separate send for stage vs.
house volume). But if you are planning to use the
output-as-input wye-the-signals-together hack, think
about that volume control location on the 450.
